The NHL announced the Clint Capela Jersey three finalists for the 2015 Norris Trophy (best all-around defenseman) on Monday night, and it is a trio that includes two former winners that also just faced off against one other another in the first round of the playoffs.The finalists: of the , of the , and of the .Doughty, a two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Kings, appeared in all 82 games season, averaging more than 28 minutes of ice-time per game (a career high) and finishing with 46 points. He is probably considered to be the best defensive player out of these three and is the only one that has yet to win award. This is also the first year he has finished in the top-three of the voting. Subban, the 2012-13 Norris winner, finished third among all defensemen in scoring this season with 60 points while playing in every game for a Montreal team that finished with 110 points and allowed the fewest goals in the NHL. The Canadiens' defense hasn't always been as good as the numbers might suggest (a lot of their succe s is simply due to having the best goalie in the NHL) but Subban has consistently been the one exception on the blue line. He is a difference maker every time he is on the ice in all three zones.Karl son, the 2011-12 winner, might be the most controversial finalist because so much of his game is about offense, to the point where he is often regarded as more of a fourth forward on the ice than a defenseman. Because he has some shortcomings in his own end of the ice his name being in the discu sion for the Norris Trophy is always an i sue for some, and will continue to be now that Jeremy Lin Jersey he has a chance to win the second of his career. But the award isn't given to the best "defensive defenseman," it's given to the best all-around defenseman, which includes offense, and there simply is not a better offensive defenseman in the NHL. And even though he sometimes has some i sues defending in his own zone, these i sues are sometimes overstated because of the way he is able to help the Senators exit the defensive zone and not have to spend as much time defending. It's a skill, and it's extremely valuable. He was a huge part of the Senators' late season run to the playoffs.
